Marketing Tip Monday #75: Attract Patients to Your NP Practice by Optimizing Your Google My Business Profile

Google My Business (GMB) has become a vital tool for businesses of all kinds, and healthcare practices are no exception. For Nurse Practitioners (NPs), a well-optimized GMB profile can significantly boost your online presence and attract more patients to your practice. In this article, we’ll explore how to maximize your GMB profile to drive patient growth.

Creating and Verifying Your GMB Profile

Start by creating a GMB profile if you haven’t done so already. Google’s verification process ensures your business is legitimate, enhancing credibility and trust with prospective patients.

Create a GMB profile: Go to the Google My Business website and click ‘Manage Now.’ Follow the prompts to add your business.

Verify your business: Google will send you a postcard with a verification code to your business address. Enter this code into your GMB account to complete the verification process.

Optimizing Your GMB Profile

Once your profile is verified, it’s time to optimize it. An optimized profile provides complete, accurate, and engaging information to prospective patients.

Provide accurate and detailed information: Include your practice’s name, address, and phone number. Specify your service areas and operating hours, and provide a clear, concise description of your practice.

Categorize your business correctly: Choose the most relevant categories to help Google understand what your business is about. Primary category is especially important; make sure it accurately reflects your business.

• Upload high-quality photos: Images of your practice, staff, and any relevant equipment or facilities can help prospective patients get a sense of what to expect. High-quality photos are more appealing and professional.

Add your services: Detail the specific services you provide. This not only informs prospective patients but also helps Google direct relevant search queries to your profile.

Collecting and Responding to Reviews

Reviews significantly influence your GMB profile’s visibility and attractiveness. Encourage patients to leave reviews and respond to them professionally.

Ask for reviews: After a consultation, ask satisfied patients if they would leave a review on your GMB profile.

Respond to reviews: Whether they’re positive or negative, respond to all reviews in a professional and timely manner. Thank those who leave positive reviews and address any issues raised in negative ones.

Posting Regular Updates

Google encourages businesses to post updates regularly. This can boost your profile’s visibility and engagement.

Use Google Posts: Share updates, events, offers, or information about your services through Google Posts. This can make your GMB profile more dynamic and informative.

Keep information updated: If your hours of operation or services change, update your GMB profile promptly.

Utilizing the GMB Q&A Feature

This feature allows users to ask questions about your business. Be proactive in using it to enhance engagement.

Answer questions promptly: A quick, professional response shows you’re attentive and value your patients.

Preempt common questions: If there are questions that you frequently encounter, post and answer them in advance.

By taking the time to create, verify, and optimize your Google My Business profile, you can significantly increase your NP practice’s visibility and attract more patients. It’s a powerful tool that, when used effectively, can greatly enhance your practice’s online presence and reputation.

  1. I had set a GMB profile at my old address. I tried to change it when I moved to my current location and now they are throwing up road blocks every chance they get. The sent me a postcard to my new address .. it came on the last day and when I went to put in the code .. it said I had to send in pictures. Fine. I take the required pictures .. then I get a message saying that I don’t have any permanent signs (I’m renting a room from a chiropractor). Fine. Next it tells me to record a 1-2 minute video .. I do that. They still won’t update my information ….

    I don’t know what to do …
