Compress the area to improve venous flow.

Control the underlying insult (pressure for example).

Control and prevent infection early.

Dead tissue needs to be removed.

These are the basics of wound care and every provider needs to understand them. It could potentially save a future patient of yours a lot of suffering, time, and money.
