Have a patient taking iron daily for iron deficiency anemia or low ferritin levels? Are you dosing these patients three times daily with 325mg ferrous sulfate as recommended? Are they having adverse GI side effects?

New research is emerging showing that daily low dose elemental iron dosing is just as effective as higher doses or multiple daily dosing.

I have multiple men’s health patients on low dose iron due to ferritin deficiency. I have seen no significant changes in ferritin levels from low dose elemental iron single day dosing compared to multiple daily dosing. The increases are similar… Also make sure they are taking Vitamin C with it!
